Well you said "block" for fighter so if it's not "block" (also "parry"),
encaisse sounds a bit like encase which would be a "grab" of a a weapon
or arm, or perhaps "bear hug" in the case of full body.

Google translate is no help.

seems to be related to "concede" or "collect", possibly "cash a check" - encaisser in cheque

Perhaps "encaisser beaucoup de coups" - take a lot of hits / absorb punishment. Might be fitting for a brute type.
